AURORA, III. (August 26, 2004) – Clear Channel Entertainment’s Motor Sports division introduced THQ World Supercross GP to Vancouver, B.C., today with a scaled-down supercross track on the grounds of BC Place Stadium, host of the second round of competition in 2004-2005 THQ World Supercross GP. Reigning National Arenacross champion Darcy Lange, who hails from nearby Vancouver Island, was on hand for interviews and photographs as he jumped the spectacular 70′ triple jump for a large group of Canadian radio, television, and print media. Lange, who captured his first National Arenacross championship in 2004, will compete in the second round of competition at BC Place Stadium Saturday, December 11, 2004. ‘I am excited to race in the second round of THQ World Supercross GP at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver later this year,’ said Lange. ‘Although I plan on defending my National Arenacross championship, I will be racing in select THQ World Supercross GP races. In bringing the THQ World Supercross GP to Canada, I feel that the sport of supercross will take another step forward in branding itself on a global horizon.’ THQ World Supercross GP makes its d?t at BC Place Stadium following the opening round of competition at Toronto’s SkyDome, December 4. The two international races coupled with 15 of the domestic races (excluding the Daytona Supercross) comprise the 17-round THQ World Supercross GP. In 2003, Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., won the THQ World Supercross GP championship, capturing nine main event wins on the year. Last season Heath Voss, of Mico, Texas piloted his Mach 1 Yamaha to the THQ World Supercross GP championship, earning top honors and giving Yamaha its second world championship in as many seasons.
