The engine locked-up, the owner says it got pushed into a corner of the garage and hasn’t been touched since. That was about seven years ago!
This was no surprise when we got the bike. The owner had taken the top-end apart and after seeing this he didn’t go any further. Yes the cylinder looked just as bad. We plan on doing a 134cc big-bore on this project. More on that later.
Now this was a surprise! This issue is a very common problem on older Honda two-strokes swingarms. It happens when the chain wears through the rubber protector on the bottom side. The top usually looks ok so most people don’t check the bottom. It doesn’t take long for a chain to ruin a swingarm. This unit was replaced with something we found on Ebay.
Motowhips took servicing our Honda CR125 linkage to another level. Justin removed all the casting marks while replacing all the bearings and seals with an All Balls Racing kit.
The stock 2003 Mikuni carburetor was cleaned up using a Vapor Honing Technologies VH800 unit. We are shocked with how it turned out. We are told that this process is safe for all metals, rubbers and plastics. This is a cleaning process and will not remove original material. Now it’s time to rebuild the inside.
We are using a Ride Engineering black triple clamp set with oversized bar mounts and some Spec Bolt hardware. Yes those fork legs got some love from the crew at AHM Factory Services. We will tell you more about that on update number two.
Spec Bolt makes a variety of hardware kits for the Honda CR125. This is basically everything we will need to mount up the brand new Restyle Kit from Polisport Plastics.
These titanium Pro Pegs from Works Connection are a major upgrade for our CR125.
