BLAST FROM THE PAST: TIM HART

The 1975 USGP at Carlsbad was a huge deal in a time where the sport was exploding and technology was in hyper drive. Tim Hart, a So Cal star slams his Factory Yamaha up the ledge and this was caught by Mark Kiel in a day when there was no auto focus, lighting was done manually with a meter and the photographer would have to wait sometimes days to see if they captured anything in focus, or snagged a perfectly exposed blur. Mr. Kiel had the knack!

MOOSE RACING STANDARD INNER TUBES
Moose Racing  standard inner tubes are made from 100% butyl polymer, unlike other tubes on the market. This is important because it minimizes natural air leakage and maintains pressure for longer periods of time. They made it easy for their dealers to identify what size tube is in the box by clearly labeling each individual box with sizes and valve stem types. Moose inner tubes are manufactured to the highest quality as approved by all Japanese motorcycle manufacturers. All valve stems are TR-4 type. MSRP is listed at $13.95.

WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY

Back in 1981 I was still pretty much a newbie at Dirt Bike and can remember getting to test these super trick Horsepower Factory (HPF) Honda XR500’s. They featured C&J frames, a 44mm Fox fork, a brilliant aluminum banana swing arms with dual Ohlins shocks. I remember it being incredibly loud, I loved the handling and suspension and this was the first time I really felt ‘engine braking’. I also recall it wasn’t that fun to start and made good power, but not enough to scare you.
