Ryan Koch and I went to the Piutes yesterday getting some more trail time on the new Beta 300RR. This machine is dramatically improved over last year.Strong bottom to mid power highlights the Beta 300. It’s a short shift and make traction machine and craves technical terrain. My KTM 300 continues to evolve. Seat Concepts built me a saddle that I love! It’s super tall, a necessary mod for me since I had my knees replaced.Kreft serviced and modified my WP Cone Valve suspension. My one snivel with the stock Cone Valve fork was that it wasn’t too plush. Kreft dialed it in and it is flat amazing! With the Trax shock Kreft switched to progressive spring along with their valving mods. They maintained the ‘up and planted feel’ that the stock Trax shock exudes, but now the traction factor has improved and its ability to track and absorb rocky rooty terrain.Moose Racing sent me on of the sano rear fender tool bags. I don’t overload it, but it allows me to ferret some tools and spares out of my but bag and onto the machine.Out back I’m testing an IRC Vulcanduro VE33 Gummy. Man, fit with a Nitro Mousse soft foamer this is a Cadillac combo that makes for a great ride and incredible traction.

Twisted Engineering’s Carbon bars offer great feel and good flex- great for long trail days.
WOLF: BACK IN THE DAY
1979 was a teething year for the Wolfster and his Kolbe Can-Am 370. Too many DNFs plagued my season, flats, a few tranny issues and naturally some mind fugues caused by the pilot made it frustrating. By 1980 we had it figured out, the big Can-Am improved hugely and my results made Andy Kolbe smile.
