Suzuki just announced a number of 2016 models including two versions of the DL1000 V-Strom adventure bike and the DR200S dual-sport. Here’s the official word from Suzuki.
The 2016 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS is primed and ready to support any rider’s adventuresome side, whether that adventure is a multi-day journey or a commute to work. The V-Strom 1000 ABS uses a 1037cc, 90-degree V-Twin with Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve fuel injection to deliver the crisp throttle response needed when the roads get technical, plus the smooth top-end power needed for effortless highway roaming. This adventure bike’s Traction Control System helps riders control power output with confidence in a variety of riding conditions. The three-mode system continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, and gets information from the throttle position sensor, the crank position sensor, and the gear position sensor. It quickly reduces engine output when it detects wheel spin by adjusting ignition timing and air delivery. Twin Iridium spark plugs ignite the fuel-air mix in each cylinder with a spark that’s hotter and more focused than conventional plugs. The bike’s advanced
chassis uses an aluminum twin-spar frame, with fully adjustable 43mm inverted forks up front and a single-shock rear suspension that features rebound damping adjustability, plus a remote spring pre-load adjuster. The standard Antilock Brake System (ABS)* monitors wheel speeds 50 times per wheel rotation to match stopping power to the available traction. The bike’s windscreen is height- and angle-adjustable to enhance rider comfort. Riders stay informed using an info-rich instrument cluster that includes an analog tach as well as LCD readouts for speed, gear-position, trip miles, average fuel consumption and much more. Halogen headlights and LED tail lights increase visibility for the rider and those on the roads nearby. The 2016 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS is available in Metallic Mystic Silver for a suggested retail price of $12,699.
The 2016 lineup also features the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS Adventure, which takes the standard V-Strom 1000 ABS and adds the following key accessories: Under cowl, hand guards, touring windscreen, side cases and mounting brackets and accessories bars. Taller and wider than the standard model, the touring height- and angle-adjustable windscreen was carefully shaped through extensive wind-tunnel testing to reduce wind noise and rider fatigue. The angle is easily adjusted by hand. The matching quick-release side cases are roomy and durable, and feature lock tumblers that match the ignition for one-key operation. The strong, steel accessory bars also offer an excellent mounting point for other optional items, like driving lights. The durable under-cowl cover adds protection and keeps road grime away from the bottom of the engine. The 2016 V-Strom 1000 ABS Adventure model with hard luggage bags comes in Metallic Matte Fibroin Gray for a retail price of $13,999.
The 2016 Suzuki DR200S is an affordable commuter that delivers 88MPG**, and it’s a versatile DualSport ride capable of exploring both on and off road. Featuring a reliable 199cc air-cooled four-stroke engine complete with an electric starter, the DR200S makes the right amount of horsepower and torque to confidently power its lightweight chassis. The bike’s 3.3-gallon fuel tank allows for long rides between refills. Its sharp styling mimics the competition-focused RM-Z family of motorcycles. That style continues through the narrow seat that integrates excellently with the DR’s fuel tank. The bike’s five-speed transmission is easy to shift and features gear ratios well-spaced for a variety of riding conditions. The high-tensile strength steel frame is strong and compact, and features telescopic front forks and single rear shock absorber with adjustable spring preload for comfort and control. The 2016 Suzuki DR200S is available in two colors: Champion Yellow, or a Solid
Black/Iron Gray combination, both for a retail price of $4,499.
