MORGANTOWN, W.V. (May 10, 2010) – Continuing the longstanding tradition of promoting amateur motocross competition in the U.S., MX Sports Pro Racing and the National Promoters Group (NPG) announce the 2010 Amateur Days schedule, which will run in concert with the 12-round Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship series.
The amateur programs present a very special opportunity for local motocross racers to be a part of the most prestigious motocross nationals on the planet and on the same weekends as the world’s best riders. This season, 11 of the 12 tracks on the schedule will host amateur events, including night racing at both Freestone and RedBud.
‘I remember being out there when I was younger,’ said Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey. ‘Being from Minnesota, Millville was our national each year and being able to compete on the same track as guys like Carmichael, LaRocco and Henry was one of the highlights of my whole year. It’s one of the most unique experiences I think any rider can have and it’s cool to see MX Sports Pro Racing continuing with the tradition.’
A wide variety of amateur classes are scheduled at each event, allowing athletes of all ages and skill levels the chance to take part in the action. Motocross is unique to other professional sports in that it offers the rare opportunity for fans and local participants to compete on the same weekend as the top professionals in the world with these designated amateur events.
