The Atlanta round of the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross got underway early Saturday morning with the riders qualifying for the first daytime race of the season. The points chase only got tighter, with red-plate holder Eli Tomac losing ground to his two closest rivals. Chase Sexton silenced the critics with a start to finish win and Cooper Webb managed to hold off Tomac for the entire race. Hunter Lawrence took yet another win in the 250 class while Haiden Deegan proved he could run up front. For extended coverage of the 2023 Monster Energy Supercross season, click here.

Eli Tomac overshot the first turn with a little nudge from Justin Barcia. That set up Jason Anderson with the lead. Barcia set out after him while Chase Sexton seemed stuck in fourth. Eventually, Anderson went off the track, and would later be penalized a position which gave Barcia the win. Sexton and Tomac caught up to third and fourth

450 MAIN EVENT
The 450 main got underway with Chase Sexton and Ken Roczen fighting for the lead. Sexton emerged on top while his two biggest rivals were further back in the pack. Webb was back around fifth and Tomac was seventh. Eventually Barcia came through to take second away from Roczen, then he started closing on Sexton. In the meantime, Tomac caught up to Webb and the two of them settled into a race-long battle for fourth. In the end, the three top riders pulled away from the Webb/Tomac battle. Sexton finished with a few seconds over Barcia, and Roczen was all by himself. Webb withstood all of Tomac’s attacks to make up a single point the the title chase.
