2023 ANAHEIM 1 SUPERCROSS RESULTS

Anaheim 1 has arrived! A sell-out crown packed into Anaheim Stadium to witness one of the best opening rounds in years. The 450 Main could have gone any number of ways: Justin Barcia, Eli Tomac, Malcolm Stewart and Chase Sexton all took turns leading. In the end, it was Eli Tomac making a dramatic statement on why he carries the number one plate. In the 250 class, there was less drama, but it was another demonstration of dominance from a defending champion. Jett Lawrence led from start to finish.

Eli Tomac

Eli Tomac ran a nearly perfect heat race to start the new season. He led from start to finish while teammate Dylan Ferrandis had to deal with the likes of Joey Savatgy, Jason Anderson and Aaron Plessinger.  In the end, Tomac won easily over Ferrandis.

Chase Sexton

In 450 heat two, Chase Sexton got away early and left an intense battle for second place between  Marvin Musquin,  Ken Roczen, Cooper Webb and Malcolm Stewart. 450 MAIN EVENT

Justin Barcia took the start but Eli Tomac wasn’t far behind. and Ken Roczen was right there as well. Roczen got the crowd excited with a few attempts at passing Tomac, but the field remained very tight up front for the first three laps. Tomac then started pressuring Barcia and took the lead. Immediately after that, Barcia went down. Malcolm Stewart then started to get the crowd riled up. He passed Roczen and was at least keeping up with Tomac. It got even more exciting at the halfway point, when Tomac went down, handing the lead to Stewart. Then, Sexton was closing in on Stewart. It wasn’t long before they were in a battle that resulted in a collision and and off-track excursion for Stewart. At that point, it looked like the race would go to Sexton, but Tomac had other ideas. He caught up in a few short laps and took the lead back with three laps to go. Sexton was clearly rattled, and then fell victim to Cooper Webb, who had been quietly working his way to the front after a mid-pack start. At the checkered flag, it was Tomac, Webb, Sexton, Dylan Ferrandis and Roczen.

250 MAIN EVENT

The 250 main event saw Austin Forkner crash hard only a few yards out of the start gate. That was the end of his night. Jett Lawrence, on the other hand, got a great start and settled in to a measured pace. H would go on to lead the entire race. Second place belonged to Cameron McAdoo for most of the main, and it looked like he would stay there. But RJ Hampshire started gaining ground in the second half of the race. Eventually, McAdoo made a few mistakes that cost him that place. In the end, RJ Hampshire was 6 seconds behind Lawrence.
