The 2021 running of the 3 Bros. 10 Hours Of Glen Helen took place this weekend and once again it was held half in daylight and half at night. The race started at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and finished at 2:00 a.m. with around 70 very weary teams. The course was simple by the standards of the Glen Helen Endurance series, mostly taking place in the lowlands around the Glen Helen International course, the Lucas Oil truck stadium, the REM track, a few sandwashes and a trip through the parking lot of the San Manuel Amphitheater. It was around 7.5 miles with lap times in the 15-minute range. When it was all done, the GasGas team of Nick Stover, Colton Aeck and Giacomo Redondi finished with a lap to spare over Robby Bell’s Precision Concepts team, which featured Trevor Stewart and JP Alvarez. As usual, things turned around in the middle of the night. Darkness came with Bell’s team looking like it had everything under control. Their lead held up through most of the night, but with less than two hours to go, the Kawasaki KX450X broke down. “We pushed it all the way back to the pits,” said Bell. “We stripped all the light stuff off it, changed it over to the impound bike and got going.”
In the end they salvaged second.

Trevor Stewart turned in the fastest single lap time of the event for the Precision Concepts team.

Stover was pumped to win the event for the second year in a row. “The guys rode great and put in solid laps with minimal mistakes. We had an awesome pit crew who got us in and out and on the move.”
The Ironman class had 18 riders who were willing to suffer through the night. The Ironman class has evolved into an all-out race–there’s no taking it easy or stopping to rest. Michael Fichera turned in 39 laps (compared to the overall winner’s 45). And he wasn’t the only one. Stewart Marshall finished just 29 seconds behind him. This year there were three youth riders who teamed up on a Suzuki 85 to complete 36 laps. Linkin Esquivel, Maximum Esquivel and Evan Shine collected the win and the honor of being the youngest team to finish. For full results go to www.glenhelen.com.
