Following his first overall victory of the year last weekend and topping the qualifying sessions this morning, Red Bull/KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin absolutely dominated the 450 class in moto one. After grabbing the holeshot, Musquin quickly began building his lead over the rest of the field, finishing the moto almost ten seconds ahead of Tomac in second. Eli started out front early, too, but uncharacteristically started to fade back making it seem as if he wouldn’t do well at all. A mid moto charge back toward the front proved otherwise as we got back by Zach Osborne for second, where he would later finish. The Rockstar Energy/Husqvarna rider of Osborne rounded out the podium in third. After great results in Florida last week, picking up a ride with the JGR/Suzuki squad and qualifying really well this morning, Frederik Noren fought his way into the top five soon after the gate dropped and managed to remain there for the rest of the moto, finishing the first 450 moto in fifth. Here’s how the rest of the field of 450 riders crossed the line: (for extended coverage of the 2019 Southwick National MX, click here).
