2008 KTM 450 and 530 EXC-R Models are Built to …

KTM’s most popular bikes, the off-road yet street legal EXC-R’s, are set to hit Dealer Show floors this November. KTM is proud to release the 2008 450 EXC-R and 530 EXC-R off-road models full of exciting changes for the New Year!

KTM EXC-R’s have won more awards for the KTM brand than any other motorcycle in their line up. Keeping with KTM’s innovative style the EXC-R’s have undergone tremendous change with both models receiving a new engine and chassis.

The new engines are redesigned with a single over head cam. The engines run smoothly while delivering more power than last year’s models. The engine oil and transmission oil systems are separate which helps keep the oil cleaner and the engine temperature down. Although the bike still maintains both the electric and kick start options it is still lighter in weight than previous models. These reliable engines are simplified for easier maintenance and come with a six-speed transmission.

A new chromoly frame with oversized lateral tubes is the biggest development of the EXC-R chassis. The bikes also come equipped with a new aluminum sub frame and a new cast swing arm with repositioned shock geometry for more comfort and progressive dampening. The WP PDS shock comes with a high and low speed adjuster. The 48mm WP open cartridge forks are redesigned for 2008 providing less friction and more progressive dampening. The bikes also include billet triple clamps with adjustable steering stem and bar mounts. New plastic bodywork comes on all models in addition to the larger capacity fuel tanks that now hold 2.43 gallons.
