In this week’s 2-Stroke Tuesday brought to you by Rydcrew.com we give you a rare look at 1990 250cc World Champion Alex Puzar’s Chesterfield Suzuki Rm250, take you on a European vacation with some pit shots from MXoN in Italy of some very trick two-stroke products and wrap it all up with a clean CR500 AF conversion Italian style.
Alex Puzar began his motocross Grand Prix career in 1988 riding a KTM. He was the 1990 FIM world champion in the 250cc class on a Suzuki In 1995 he won the 125cc motocross world championship on a Honda Along with Puzar was a member of the winning Italian team in the 2002 Andrea Bartolini and Alessio Chiodi, Motocross des Nations.
Here is the actual factory Chesterfield Suzuki RM250 that Alex Puzar won the 1990 World Motocross Championship on. The owner says its 95% original to the way he raced it in 1995!
This carbon fiber hand-made silencer from Arrow is one of only a handful of units made and at the time was thousands of dollars with no chance at being made available to the public.
The power plant that won the 250cc World Championship in 1990 looks relatively stock on the outside but we doubt the story is the same on the inside.
Completely custom aluminum gas tank. The tank was rumored to be larger than the stock unit so there was no issue of running out of gas during the long motos on wide open European track. The team was said to only have one of these tanks per rider due to the man hours of fabrication and cost.
We are lucky enough today to have manufacturers making carbon fiber products available to the public now but back in 1990 this was unobtainable !
Another shot of the Puzar RM250 power plant .
Carbon fiber just looks cool ! No mater what era, it just screams factory. Check out the 18-inch rear Pirelli Scorpion tire on the rear, that’s not original but they did run 18″ tires back then to guard against flats.

This YZ125 was part of Yamaha’s display this last weekend in Italy at the MXoN. Decked out with a few aftermarket products that are available there. This carbon-fiber tank is on a very trick CR500 AF conversion spotted in the pits and you will definitely see more of it in the future. The tank and clutch cover below are made by CMT Compositi and they make a ton of parts for current and older model two strokes. www.cmtcompositi.comCheck out www.cmtcompositi.com for more information on what they make.
